NME Must Love These Bands

Chapel Club - Indie Rock. Backed by NME.com? Of course! Rich Mitchell, ex-drummer of British rock stalwarts The Dogs. Founded in Swindon. BBC again, class them as Candle-lit rock, easily mistaken as a term used to avoid classing them as Indie, alongside the other 20 bands they choose to champion

Eygptian Hip Hop - All 17 years old, classified as "Sqiffy Pop" according to BBC, whatever that is. "Wild Human Child, 48k plays on their myspace with esteemed music critic Nick "Grimmy" Grimshaw already having lauded it as his single of the week. Currently at college, and splitting time between touring and studies.

Babeshadow -  Formed in London late '09, 4-piece signed to Luv Luv Luv Records, having already toured with Florence & the Machine. Fronted by Tom Cawte & David Thornley who co-write all the bands material. Arguably the smallest band on this roster but the only band to peak my indie-hating interest. One to watch!

Sharks - Anthemic Brit-Rock with just enough twinges of Indie to appease the drainpipes although not intentional. Fittingly set to support Gaslight Anthem over the coming months on their Uk tour. Previously toured with Gallows, Alexisonfire etc, released 7' split with San Diego Punk band Northern Towns on San Fran DIY label Swagger City Records. Preceded by their debut 5-track EP in '09, Shallows Waters. Very DIY, upfront and opinionated. Unique.

Chew Lips - Signed to Electronic Music & French Fashion House Kitsune (Fox - in Japanese), born in March 2008 the EAst-London based trio have fast risen to peoples attention. Not dissimilar in sound to Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the 3-piece have attracted acclaim Steve Lamacq as early as October '08, only making waves on a broader spectrum 2 years later. Debut album Unicorn was released in early 2010, (25/01). Have already toured with the likes of both Killers & Delphic.
